What is a Strip Heater and how does it work?:
There are several types of strip heaters, but they all share the same concept of construction. We are providing a specific resistor and placing it between two layers of materials that allow the isolation of the electrical circuit to produce heat. We can insulate these with Silicone Rubber, or ceramic, or a metal casing. All of the choices are dependent on your needs and your applications requirements.
Types of strip heaters:
Bucan offers high temperature options such as Mineral insulated and Ceramic strip heaters. When your needs are lower temperature and flexible installation, we do offer Silicone Rubber Strip Heaters and Kapton Strip Heaters. We also have custom Items that can be created with Combined methods of Metal casings with Thin Profile Flexible heaters bonded to the surface. Ceramic Strip heaters:
Ceramic Strip Heaters are built with a metal outer case and have a very high temperature internal assembly. They can be built with a set of mounting tabs and we have many connection terminations available. The metal casing is a solid structural tube and are made for many rugged applications.
Silicone Rubber Strip heaters:
Silicone Strip Heaters are built with Silicone Outer Layers and have a wire or foil circuit. They can be built to custom Shapes and can conform to curved or flexible designs. They are water resistant, but have a lower temperature availability. They can be bonded to your application for installation, or they can be pressed between plates. There are limitless methods to integrate these heaters into your applications.
Flexible or Custom Strip heaters:
Deciding on a strip heater does not need to be difficult. Typically, Flexible heaters are for low temperature and moving applications, or where space is limited. High Temp heaters are for more rugged applications that require very high heat and typically do not have any moisture protection. We can guide you through the process of choosing the best Strip heater for you, weather that is a Flexible heater or a Custom Strip heater.
Tubular Strip heaters:
For Applications that require higher temperatures and also require moisture safety, we do have Tubular Strip heaters. These combine the higher temperature abilities and also can be connected with a Nema 4 housing. This will allow for the highest temperature and will still allow for potential protection from any outside moisture. This can be designed on your own, or can be guided by one of Bucan’s Engineering or Sales team.
